Expanded programs in mobility, education, and community outreach.

100km Mixed Team – 1st Place

We pushed hard, ran smart, and crossed the line first.

This race was more than a victory — it showed how far I’ve come, the power of teamwork, and how much further I’m ready to go in building communities and giving back.

HK5Trails (2023)

HK5Trails in 5 Days (2023) - Run for Freedom

The Tinworth Trail, a 97-kilometer journey from Tai O to the Chinese border, stood as a tribute to Nick Tinworth—a trailblazing runner whose legacy endures beyond cancer. The Wilson Trail stretched 85 kilometers, unfolding panoramic views alongside punishing climbs.

But the true tests awaited in the final stages: the MacLehose Trail, a grueling 103-kilometer route marked by relentless elevation, and the Lantau Trail, 70 kilometers of endurance where exhaustion met determination, lifted by laughter, fellow athletes, and the indomitable spirit of the Lantau community.

Our history

A Legacy of Impact, A New Chapter of Hope

The Action Asia Foundation (AAF) began 20 years ago with a mission to transform the lives of children in need. For two decades, AAF has supported countless young lives through education, health programs, and outdoor activities, fostering resilience and opportunity. In 2025, we expanded our vision to include not just children but also adults with disabilities. This pivotal shift reflects our belief that every individual, regardless of age or ability, deserves freedom, purpose, and a chance to thrive. From providing electric wheelchairs to empowering disabled individuals with education, employment, and access to sports, AAF is committed to building a more inclusive future for all.

Our milestones include:
20 Years of supporting children and young people.
Hundreds of lives transformed through education, rehabilitation, and empowerment.

The Story So Far: Turning Miles Into Meaning

Action Asia Foundation Movement

Born from ultra-runner Jo Lodder’s passion for pushing limits, Action Asia Foundation began with the historic Run for Freedom — and became a movement.

In 2023, Jo became the first person to conquer Hong Kong’s brutal 398km HK5Trails in under 5 days. But this wasn’t just an athletic feat—every step raised funds and awareness for people with disabilities, proving that perseverance creates possibility.

Running Towards Change and Empowerment

This extraordinary feat inspired AAF to integrate running and outdoor adventures into its core initiatives. Through our next event, like the Run for Ability, AAF leverages the collective love of sport, community, and the outdoors to create real change, raising funds to provide:

  • Electric wheelchairs for mobility.
  • Rehabilitation and mental health support.
  • Education and job opportunities.

Jo’s story exemplifies the spirit of AAF: pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and empowering lives. Action Asia Foundation’s next challenge – Run for Ability a run from Beijing to Hong Kong, a 3,000km challenge in 2025, will further amplify this mission, uniting communities and raising critical support for the disabled.

“Running towards freedom, one step at a time.” – Jo Lodder
